Beyond the Pail

I headed for the reading room
To ponder life’s demands,
Wherein I met a bureaucrat
With schedules in his hands.

The schedules held a running list
Of toilet paper use,
With special symbols by the men
Accused of roll abuse.

Alas, I’d hit the monthly mark
Of squares I was assigned;
My plea for just a single more
Was straight away declined.

I do not think a family blog
Should print the words I said,
But when my breath had run its course
The bureaucrat had fled.

I understand the need to pinch
A penny here and there,
But need the focus of our cuts
Involve the potty chair?

And should the government engage
In bureaucratic math,
Beyond the threshold of the door
That leads into the bath?
